Some Thoughts For Graduates

So as it turns out, it was a tough year for...a lot of things, but especially finding the time to contribute to the blog. Fortunately, it is now not the school year anymore, which means -- assuming that our puppies don't get bounced out of daycare for being occasionally psychotic -- that some writing will happen this summer...

...but for the moment, I wanted to share the speech I made after the MA class of 2018 asked me to speak at graduation this year. I will confess that it was much harder than I thought it would be to do write a graduation speech in our current climate. How does one be uplifting and candid these days -- and how does one address political realities without being branded as a partisan, especially when speaking for an entire institution?
